Frequently asked questions
Questions about designing, printing, and putting your frames together.
- Is SnapFrames free?
- Designing and previewing frames is always free — no account or credit card needed. You only pay when you are ready to download print-ready files. Paid plans (Basic, Premium, and Commercial) are billed yearly.
- What file formats does SnapFrames export?
- SnapFrames exports STL files for printing, plus 3MF and OBJ for multi-color prints — 3MF loads colors automatically in Bambu Studio, OBJ in OrcaSlicer.
- Do I need CAD or 3D design skills?
- No. You enter the size of your photo or artwork, choose a style, and SnapFrames automatically builds the frame and splits it into printable parts for you.
- Which 3D printers work with SnapFrames?
- Any FDM 3D printer works, including Bambu Lab, Prusa, and Creality Ender machines. SnapFrames automatically splits each frame into parts that fit your printer’s build plate.
- How are the frames assembled?
- The printed parts are modular and snap together — no glue or hardware required.
- What can I put in a SnapFrames frame?
- Photos, art prints, posters, lithophanes, and HueForge prints. You set the exact opening size to match your piece.
- What do the paid plans include?
- Basic adds more frame styles and unlimited downloads. Premium gives you every style, Pro Materials, face text and accessories, plus 40 bonus credits to generate your own materials and patterns. Commercial adds 120 bonus credits and a license to sell what you print. Credits never expire, and you can earn more by sharing your makes in the community gallery.
